DAY 9 Give Your Heart to Him.

DAY 9 Give Your Heart to Him.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  (Matthew 6;19-21)

We have received an incomparable gift from God.  It is not the best among others rather one that is in a league of its own.  Remember in this Christmas season the gift of Jesus and what that means for our lives and the world we live in.  This gift compels us to give back to the one who has given what we never deserved or could earn.  We are tempted to give material gifts in response to his gift and count it settle.  What the Giver of Christ desires from us is us.  Give your heart to God this Christmas. “Richer by far is the heart’s adoration.”

STAR IN THE EAST

Hail the blest morn, see the great mediator

Down from the regions of glory descend.

Shepherds, go worship the babe in the manger,

Lo! for his guard the bright angels attend.

Brightest and best of the stars of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness and lend us thy aid.

Star in the east, our horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant redeemer was laid.

Cold on his cradle the dew drops are shining,

Low lies his bed, with the beasts of the stall.

Angels adore him, in slumber reclining,

Wise men and shepherds before him do fall.

Brightest and best of the stars of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness and lend us thy aid.

Star in the east, our horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant redeemer was laid.

Say, shall we yield him, in costly devotion,

Odors of Eden and offerings divine,

Gems from the mountain and pearls from the ocean,

Myrrh from the forest and gold from the mine?

Vainly we offer each ample oblation,

Vainly with gifts we his favor secure;

Richer by far is the heart’s adoration,

Nearer to God are the prayers of the poor.

Brightest and best of the stars of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness and lend us thy aid.

Star in the east, our horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant redeemer was laid.
