“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8)
We have all asked the question or at least heard it said, what do you get for the man or woman who has everything. You should never voice this question to a clerk in a store or you will leave with arms full of frivolous items and an empty wallet. I pose this question to you. What gift will you give to the Lord? He is truly the one who has everything. Will you give him your time, talent, and money? Will you give him a life of sacrifice and service for his kingdom. There is only one thing that the Lord desires from each man, woman, and child. He desires to be Lord of our heart. Everything else that we give to him will leave us standing outside. Only when we give our heart to him, do all our other gifts become pure in his sight. “Yet what I can, I give him, give my heart.” “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
IN THE BLEAK MID-WINTER
In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.
Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him
Nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away
When He comes to reign:
In the bleak mid-winter
A stable-place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty,
Jesus Christ.
Enough for Him, whom cherubim
Worship night and day,
A breast full of milk,
And a manger full of hay;
Enough for Him, whom angels
Fall down before,
The ox and ass and camel
Which adore.
What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb;
If I were a wise man
I would do my part;
Yet what I can, I give Him –
Give my heart.
