“Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21)
The problems of the world we live in are abundantly visible to all who have eyes to see. But the solution to those problems are often elusive. It seems to simple of an answer to say that Christ is the solution. It may be simple, but it is not simplistic. We compound the problems in ourselves and in the world when we seek a solution outside of Christ. We must forsake our pride and humbly accept the word planted in us. That word is both his written word and Christ himself who is the Word of God. “Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.”
O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM
O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep,
The silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light.
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.
How silently, how silently,
The wondrous Gift is giv’n!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still,
The dear Christ enters in.
O holy Child of Bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sins and enter in,
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell:
Oh, come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!
