Day 10: Go Tell It!

“And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.”
(Luke 2:18-19)

In the infinite wisdom of God, he chose the least of these, a band of shepherds, to be the recipients of the most important birth announcement ever. When they had received word of Christ’s birth, they went with haste to see the reality of the message that was given to them. It did not end there though. They did not keep the message to themselves. “They made know the saying that had been told them concerning this child.” Likewise, you and I have received word of the most important birth in human history. We should not stay silent. “Go tell it on the mountain, our Jesus Christ is born!”

GO, TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN

While shepherds kept their watchin’
Over silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light, yeah

Oh I said
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born

The shepherds feared and trembled
When lo! Above the Earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Savior’s birth

Down in a lowly manger
Our humble Christ was born
God sent us salvation
On that blessed Christmas morn’

Oh I said
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born

When I was a lowly seeker
I sought both night and day
I asked the Lord to help me
And he showed me the way

He made me a watchman
Upon a city wall
And if I am a Christian
I am the least of all

So I said
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
Our Jesus Christ is born

Go tell them
Go tell them
Go tell them
Go tell them
Go tell them
Go tell them
Go tell them
Go tell them
