DAY 4 Christ Was Born for You.

DAY 4 Christ was born for you.

“And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’”  (Luke 2:10-11)

In the clutter and busyness of what Christmas has become, we often forget this simple truth.  Christ was born for each and everyone of us.  “For unto you is born…”  He was born to be the ultimate gift to mankind.   He accomplished for mankind what we could never accomplish for ourselves.  He is our Savior, Christ, and Lord.

 Infant Holy, Infant Lowly

Infant holy, infant lowly, For His bed a cattle stall;
Oxen lowing, little knowing Christ the babe is Lord of all.
Swiftly winging, angels singing, Bells are ringing, tidings bringing:
Christ the babe is Lord of all! Christ the babe is Lord of all!

Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping Vigil till the morning new
Saw the glory, heard the story, Tidings of a Gospel true.
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, Praises voicing, greet the morrow:
Christ the babe was born for you! Christ the babe was born for you!

Day 1 What Child is This?

DAY 1

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”  (John 1:14)

On this first day of advent this question must be answered.  “What child is this?”  If this question remains unanswered, this season will only be a walk down memory lane with the spirit of Christmas Past as our guide.  It will only be a secular festival of material lust and glutton.  It will be a moment to put on a face of kindness and then return to the way we were.

“What child is this?”  He is the One whom the prophets foretold.  He is the Word made flesh.  It is he who borne our sins on the cross. He is Christ the King of kings.

Come with loving hearts and enthrone him.

WHAT CHILD IS THIS

 What Child is this who, laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross he borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
Raise, raise a song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.
